  7.     Though she is hardly a screen legend, Uma Thurman knows
  8. what it feels like to be a goddess. She is named after Uma, a
  9. Hindu deity both terrifying and gracious. In The Adventures of
  10. Baron Munchausen she plays Venus. But Thurman's most inspiring
  11. effect has come from the tight-bodiced costumes she wore in
  12. Dangerous Liaisons. Frederick's of Hollywood reports that sales
  13. of push-up bras and uplifting half-pads have busted out. Says
  14. Thurman: "People have always stared at me because I'm strange
  15. shaped and a bit of a sore thumb." To her, she's human; to
  16. others, divine.
